Formula 1600 driver, 2015 Rookie of the Year, and BARC’s Best New Driver 2015 Ben Hurst of Oakville, Ontario traveled to Mont Tremblant, Quebec this past weekend to contest the Formula Tour 1600 Quebec Series Summer Classic Races at the historic Circuit Mont-Tremblant.
After two days of testing on Thursday and Friday, Hurst had plenty of time to get up to speed and relearn the track in time for a busy three race weekend. Le Circuit Mont Tremblant was a track Hurst had struggled with in the past due to the challenging layout and the stiff competition but he managed to finish in the top ten for all three of the weekend’s races.
Qualifying the car in P8 for the first race, Hurst managed to hold onto that position until the checkered despite difficult track conditions as a result of storms that passed through the area prior to the start of the race.
In Race 2 on Sunday morning, Hurst finished P6 after a race that was run almost entirely under full course caution due to a number of unrelated incidents. In spite of the lack of green laps, Hurst still managed to make up a few places from his qualifying position and improve on his Race 1 result.
During Race 3, Hurst participated in some great battles with his teammate for the weekend Dev Gore, Michel Legrand, and Stirling Fairman. Hurst finished the final race of the weekend in P8.
“I worked hard again this weekend in Tremblant and I was pleased with my results. I didn’t fully have the pace but I still managed to get in some great battles over the course of the three races. I finished in the top ten for all three and I’m happy with this considering it’s a track I’ve found difficult in the past,” said Hurst.
Hurst wishes to thank his team, Brian Graham Racing, and his mechanic for the weekend, Kyle Gallant, for their tireless efforts over the weekend. He is proud to represent JRP and Total Balance Fitness.
Hurst returns to the track July 30-31 to contest round 4 of the Toyo Tires Formula 1600 Championship at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
